Cambria Christmas Market

Three years ago our family discovered the magic that is the Cambria Christmas Market and it immediately became a family tradition. Designed with traditional German Christmas Market’s in mind, this is truly a fantastic event. There are local musicians, from classical trios to acoustic guitar to trendier tunes – something for everyone. Vendors sell hand-crafted wares as well as delicious themed drinks and snacks.

Tunnel-of-Lights-Beginning

Our family likes to take a stroll through the vendors, then buy a warm beverage – hot chocolate for the kiddo and a warm toddy for the adults, then head out to the light display.

And this is not Clark Griswold’s light display … no this puts his Italian twinkle lights in their place! Immediately you are greeted with an animated display of the 12 days of Christmas set to music. From there you walk through the infamous “arch of lights” to continue a wondrous tour of Christmas favorites. From the Grinch to the Nutcracker with Santa and other holiday traditions from Countries around the world it is an awe-inspiring tour.

As you wind up your walk you are surprised to be greeted with a lovely gift selection at the Cambria Nursery – from Christopher Radko ornaments to vintage trains and other unique finds.

You can take an hour or three – but even the most Grinchiest visitors will appreciate the effort, imagination and delightful childlike enjoyment of the most wonderful time of the year that must be at work with the creators of this amazing event. Young and old, children or not – there really is something for everyone! And because it’s all set in the wonderful hillside pine forest of Cambria at night it gives all of us Central Coast natives a chance to break out our Wellies and scarves and knit caps and pretend its Winter. So have a dinner, and then make your way to the downtown shuttles in Cambria, buy yourself a warm beverage and take time to enjoy the show. Tell them Ashlea from the Pismo Beach Homes Team sent you!
