Spring Food Drive Benefits SLO Food Bank

We live in a fairly idyllic place — fantastic climate, next to the ocean, wonderful in almost every aspect. What may not be readily apparent is that 44,000 of our neighbors are struggling to feed themselves or their children. And so it is with that thought in mind that Keller Williams establishes an annual goal of “Giving Where We Live.” We want to give thanks — and not just at Thanksgiving.

If you’re like me you are very aware during the holidays of the needs of those less fortunate in our community. Children with no toys and families without the capability to celebrate the season with home cooked meals. Additionally, even though it is the Central Coast, we do experience our own version of Winter — and so we are keenly aware of the need for warm coats and warm meals for empty bellies.

However in Spring it’s less likely that you will be reminded that these needs still exist. Children still go to school with empty bellies and families still struggle to put a well-balanced meal on the table. That is one reason why we feel it is the best time of the year to remind ourselves that the needs go on year-round.

So with that in mind, the weekend of April 17 the Keller Williams Realty Central Coast Associates will be visiting your local neighborhoods and providing you the opportunity to donate without leaving your home! Look for our white bags with the red logos and fill them up! We will do all the heavy lifting — pick them up and let you know how much you collectively contributed. Let’s make a difference! Let’s make it a record year! Let’s give those in need a break and fill those tummies!
