Flour House in San Luis Obispo

Stroll the streets of San Luis Obispo and you’ll have so many options it is almost hard to choose! Enjoy historic architecture, shop in the wide variety of boutiques, visit the art galleries or the Mission and just in downtown you can easily fill a day of activities!  And when you’ve built up an appetite after all of the sights and sounds, there is now a new option to try in the Flour House — whether you are in the mood for a light menu of appetizers or if you are ready for dinner and libations.

Flour House is the labor of love for a husband and wife, Alberto and Gessica, one “Italian by birth and the other Italian by blood”.  They make you feel so welcome, it’s almost like visiting family.

My husband Brad and I love their delicacies where they are “specializing in pizza Napoletana — a heritage style so precious that it’s guarded by Italian law: simple, light, fresh, flavorful, and delicious”.  They have the only imported Stefano Ferrara pizza oven between Los Angeles and San Francisco that takes their house made dough to a whole new level of enjoyment being light, flaky and delectable. My favorite is their house made pasta called Tagliatelle Rosse a delightful tomato-infused pasta, with nutmeg, pine nuts and asparagus cream. I love trying a different cocktail each time I go but my favorite is called On the Amalfi which is citron-infused vodka, limoncello di sorrento, house basil syrup and lemon juice with a sugar rim.  It brings me back to the lemon-filled stores in Sorrento where the clerks wear whiter lab coats and pour tastes of limoncello for patrons to enjoy.  Alberto and Gessica’s mixologists on staff are top notch — you won’t go wrong with any of their cocktails. Brad and I went to their restaurant for our anniversary and Alberto made this beautiful heart shaped pizza for us that made us absolutely giddy with the delicate flavors in every bite.
