Pismo Beach has always been a great place to vacation for Summer, but what a lot of people do not know is that it has a secret summer! Pismo Beach has become known for its Indian Summers: we tend to experience our warmest and best climate in September and even October.
With average high temps in the high 70’s to low 80’s, and the kids in school (smaller crowds) this makes for a great time to visit the beaches of Pismo Beach in early Fall!
We typically receive much fewer visitors, and have an additional bonus of shoulder-season rates for many of our hotels and attractions – making it an excellent opportunity for a much more economical stay when you visit in after the traditional “Summer Season”.
The well-known large beach to the North and South of Pismo Pier is always a great option – miles of sand to hunt seashells and take long walks or runs – but can still be a bit overwhelming in terms of the volume of visitors and lack of parking. As an alternative, we suggest that you check out what we refer to as the “locals” beaches — Avila Beach, Shell Beach, Pirates Cove or even the beach near Grand Avenue in Grover Beach that includes the beginning of the boardwalk. Stake your claim on the sand during the beginning of Fall and enjoy all that the Central Coast Indian Summer offers.
