If you’re looking for the best, freshest sushi in San Luis Obispo, you should really check out Goshi. Tucked back in the Creamery in downtown SLO–with another location coming soon in the SLO Public Market–Goshi is sure to be your new favorite restaurant.
Their menu doesn’t feature many of the complicated rolls that we often see: no caterpillar rolls or crunch rolls here! Instead, Goshi focuses on simplicity and quality ingredients. A personal favorite is the Spicy Tuna with Garlic Chips, filled with fresh tuna and topped with fried garlic, roe, green onion, and spicy mayo.
For the non-fish eaters, they have a ton of delicious options like udon noodle bowls, fried chicken, and soy braised pork belly!
Goshi is a common date night for my fiance and I, and we always order the Kanpai Boat for two. They start you off with miso soup, rice, cucumber salad, and the appetizer of the day. Then, they bring out a literal boatload of sushi complete with two rolls, ten pieces of nigiri, and your choice of tataki or sashimi (I recommend the sashimi!). It’s such a fun and unique date night, sharing dinner over the cutest plate of sushi you’ve ever seen.
If it’s a last-minute craving you can walk in, just be prepared to wait! Or you can make a reservation online and feel like a VIP walking to your table as soon as you arrive. Either way, Goshi is guaranteed to deliver an incredible experience. It’s the perfect date night, birthday dinner, or just-because treat, so make sure to check them out!
