Walking in, you’re greeted by the owner or her family–all central coast locals!–as you begin to look around. The front section covers every genre you could ever want, covering both fiction and nonfiction. The back section is a huge array of children’s books, perfect for setting your kids up for a lifetime love of reading!
If you’re looking for a specific book, the booksellers can certainly help you find it. If they don’t have it on the shelves, they can order it in and it’ll be ready for you to pick up in no time. It’s inevitable that you’ll want to spend more time at Monarch Books, and luckily they have several book clubs! Their regular book club meets monthly, and the waitlist is open now. Cookbook fans will love their Cook The Book Club, where everyone makes a different dish from the same cookbook and meets for a delicious potluck to share their creations. My personal favorite is the Shhhh, We’re Reading Book Club–bring a chair and your current read and just hang out and read for an hour with fellow book lovers. This one is the fourth Friday of every month at 7:00 PM, the ideal way to end the week and the perfect excuse to read uninterrupted for the evening.
