Fans of Corazon Cafe in SLO will be happy to hear about Chef Chencho’s newest restaurant, La Pizca! Right on the edge of Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach, La Pizca is not to be missed.
Featuring cuisine from Southern Mexico, La Pizca brings a few of your favorite Corazon Cafe dishes along with several new (and delicious) options! I’ve been twice already and it was great both times. The first time, we ordered a bit too much and ended up with lots of leftovers, which is always a plus and really speaks to the generous portion sizes. The Ceviche Nachos are listed as an appetizer but could easily be a meal!
Over our two visits, my fiance and I have tried the Ceviche Nachos, chilequiles, enchiladas, the burrito with adobo chicken, and chicken tamales. Everything is incredibly fresh and most are served with beans, rice, and roasted veggies. The tamales will be familiar to Corazon Cafe fans, and they’re by far the best tamales I’ve ever had. They’re well filled with cheese or your choice of protein, but I would’ve been happy with just the masa; it’s so soft and beautifully covered in salsa, crema, and pickled onions.
The staff is very welcoming and Chef Chencho checks on you himself. La Pizca is a wonderful addition to your go-to restaurants, both delicious and extremely reasonably priced. Plus, while Corazon Cafe is primarily a breakfast stop, closing at 3pm some days, La Pizca is open until 9pm every day except Sunday! (And Monday, they’re closed all day). Make sure to check them out, you won’t be disappointed!
