New to the restaurant lineup in Pismo Beach this year is La Bodega, specializing in shareable Tapas plates. An inviting environment of warm colors, luscious aromas, beautiful wines and delicious farm to table fresh food. Located in a lovely building that offers soaring ceilings and plenty of natural light. There is a small outdoor patio where you can enjoy your meal and still feel the ocean breezes. You may choose an intimate table for two, family style tables or have a seat at the wine bar. The open concept space allows a clear view of the kitchen, the pizza chefs working their magic at the pizza oven, and the sizzling sounds of fresh food prep.
The last time I visited, I ordered the Winter Salad. It had beets, goat cheese, crispy pancetta, candied walnuts, and arugula with a champagne vinaigrette. I also order the Autumn Harvest flat bread, a thin crispy flavorful crust with thinly sliced crisp apples, prosciutto, praline walnuts, béchamel and blue cheese. Other menu offerings we have enjoyed are fresh seared scallops gracefully served over a parsnip puree with prosciutto chips in a spicy honey brown butter sauce sprinkled with fried sage. Also delicious are the roasted Brussel sprouts complimented by pancetta and golden apple, and the Devil’s on Horseback – the traditional bacon wrapped dates but this time stuffed with goat cheese in a balsamic reduction with basil oil. Pair your meal with a robust selection of delicious wines.
La Bodega supports local area farms, creameries and meat purveyors such as Bautista Farms, Alle-Pia, Central Coast Creamery, Farmgirl Creamery and Vintage Cheese. The menu changes with the seasons, providing patrons with the freshest ingredients and an ever-changing selection.
Owner Teresa Cordeiro commented on their web site; “I grew up in a family who valued the time we sat around the table and enjoyed the well-prepared food my mother would make using some of the finest ingredients, the produce in our backyard. Meals were a shared experience, not just a time to eat. Through my travels, I gained a real appreciation of food and its involvement with culture and community. Through these experiences, I was inspired to share my passion of tapas made with locally sourced food with you. Enjoy!”
Book your holiday dinners there or enjoy Monday Night Football where they feature a spread of twice baked potato, spicy beef empanadas, Brussel sprouts au gratin and a flight of 4 beers of your choice from 5pm-9pm.
