AGHS Volleyball Moves on to State Finals

Thursday night, the Arroyo Grande Eagles Boys’ Volleyball team hosted Foothills Christian from San Diego (FCHS) for the semifinal game of the CIF SoCal Division IV Regional State Tournament. The Eagles came into the game seeded #1 in the 8-team bracket after a first-round win against Magnolia Science Academy Van Nuys.

The match started with a very close set, with FCHS taking a very close one-set lead 26-24. In the second set, AGHS stormed back, leading by 7 at one point to win the second set 25-21. AGHS continued to dominate the cycle of momentum with great blocking and middle hitting to take the win in the third set 25-20.

FCHS entered the 4th motivated to beat AGHS with dominant outside hitting and middle blocking, winning the set 25-22 to even the match at 2 sets each. The 5th set was electric, trading points all the way up to a tie at 16-16. AGHS came back from a timeout and scored the next 2 points for the win, taking them to the final CIF SoCal Division IV Regional State Tournament.

The Arroyo Grande Eagles now move on to play #2 seeded Grant High School from LA in the final game of the CIF SoCal Division IV Regional State Tournament, May 18th – 6:00 pm at the AGHS.
