Avila Beach has a brand new restaurant that is a must try on your next visit. Mersea’s of Avila is in the same family of restaurants as Dorn’s of Morro Bay and Duckies Chowder House of Cayucos. The restaurant is at the end of Harford Pier on Avila Beach Drive. You can soak in the gorgeous views while enjoying their delicious location-inspired menu.
I went with my family and we had an array of wonderful items to share as well as great beer to wash it down. I enjoyed the Oyster po-boy off their special menu. The oysters were perfectly fried, dressed with shredded cabbage and the fresh roll that delivered the concoction was divine! We also enjoyed both kinds of clam chowder, the White New England and the Red Manhattan. Their shrimp tacos are on soft corn tortillas with sautéed shrimp, shredded cabbage, cheddar and jack cheese with two kinds of salsa. All Mersea’s menu items are made with the freshest quality ingredients. Their full bar is stocked with creative draft beer and a small, but local wine list.
You can choose to sit inside at one of their tables or cozy up to the bar. When the weather is perfect – which Avila is most of the time — you can enjoy seating on their outdoor deck and watch the happy seals and sea life entertain you as you dine. There are even sizable heaters for chilly days! Mersea’s is located at 3985 Avila Beach Drive, and their number is (805) 548-2290.
