The Sky’s the Limit – Living in Pismo Beach

Mother’s Day presented new challenges this year – no brunch or wine tasting, and what to get the mom who literally has everything (or if she doesn’t, and she wants it, she buys it before you can). So when my hard-to-shop-for mother gushed over the Spring flag I purchased last year from “The Sky’s The Limit”, I took note!

As Chief Ambassador for the Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce, we’ve been attempting to keep in touch with our members and publicize what they were offering in this statewide Covid-19 shelter-at-home mandate. From the first week, “The Sky’s The Limit” owners Jason and Melissa Natanson have hit the ground running, establishing a “Shop Now” feature on their Facebook page and offering personalized shopping. More than a traditional beach town souvenir shop, this fantastic little retail boutique carries all things fun – and promises something for everyone. Melissa and Jason honeymooned in Pismo 13 years ago and it became one of their favorite spots to escape to from Bakersfield. They had visited the store and wondered “wouldn’t it be cool to have a store like this someday?” Six years ago that fleeting thought became reality. Melissa has added wonderfully crafted garden flags and other favorites. Jason flight-tests all of their wide variety of kites perfect for windy days at the coast. In between they have games and toys; puzzles and garden art, literally defining their namesake “The Sky’s The Limit”.

My touchless shopping experience was spot-on. I messaged the Facebook page and they responded in a few hours. I described my flag and although they didn’t have that one (from last year) they offered several similar ones to choose from. Sold! I gave credit card info and on my next trip to downtown, seamlessly swung by their storefront on Dolliver. Melissa ran out with a bag and dropped it in my passenger window. Just like that I supported local small business, and found a gift for the impossible mom.

When the re-opening occurs, I highly recommend you give yourself an hour at least to really see all that “The Sky’s The Limit” has to offer – they have brand new floors to enjoy now as well! But if you have to call in an order, or shop on Facebook, they are flexible to whatever is the most comfortable for you – and you will find things you didn’t know you needed, for any age!
