Tidying Up in 2021!

2021 is here! I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of purging that I want to do this year.

The year 2020 has taught me many things about life and what’s most important to me. I’ve discovered that my biggest priority is my family. Beyond that, I’ve learned I need to rid my life of all of the unwanted/unneeded things bogging me down. Some people call it minimalism, I’m calling it being stuck in a house during quarantine with three young boys!

The first step to freeing myself is to come up with a game plan for going through (and getting rid of) these unnecessary items and I thought I’d share my process with you. I made this checklist while my little guys were distance learning and will hang it with our 2021 vision boards. I love checking things off my list because it gives me a visual “win” for the day.

This past year, during the midst of the pandemic, we bought a house. Between working and schooling from home, organizing hasn’t been much of a priority! I don’t feel like I was the only one living in pure survival mode. However, this year I really need to be able to thrive in our new space.

With organizing being my biggest 2021 goals, I’ve decided to tackle each space in my house individually so I don’t get too overwhelmed and hopefully I can see progress in a smaller amount of time! My goal is to check off 1-2 items per week and, with some luck and a little bit of elbow grease, have a completely organized home in less than 6 months!

We’ve all had some curveballs thrown at us during 2020, and I’m doing my best to look at everything with a grateful heart. With this new task ahead of me, I’m thankful to have something that I have control over. I’m taking control of organization in 2021!
