Your New Favorite Breakfast Spot: Grover Beach Sourdough

Fans of Spoon Trade, rejoice! Grover Beach Sourdough has gone through an extensive renovation to open a cafe right next to their bakery, across the street from the original Spoon Trade.

I’ve talked about Grover Beach Sourdough before; their hyperlocal sourdough starter derived from Arroyo Grande grown blueberries, their incredible bagels, and the variety of delicious baked goods on offer.

But the cafe is new, and my husband and I are obsessed. We’ve been there quite literally every single weekend since they reopened in early September. Rather than settle into a familiar order, we’re trying everything on the menu and it has all been perfection.

Once you try it, it’s just about guaranteed to become your new favorite breakfast spot. Personal highlights include the vegetable hash: seasonal veggies with a creamy sauce, perfectly poached eggs, toasted rosemary sourdough, and all the fresh herbs you can eat. I’m not a coffee fan, but I have it on good authority (my self-professed coffee snob husband) that their coffee is some of the best in the county. If you’re like me, they also have a variety of hot teas as well as house made iced tea and lemonade, or a wide selection of wines for a morning celebration.

A few Spoon Trade touches have made the move–look up as you step through the door!–like the bologna sandwich and the chicken and dumplings, both of which were featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. And don’t worry, the bakery is still up and running with everything you loved about it before the expansion. They have their own entrance so if you’re just looking for a loaf of bread or a grab and go sandwich, it’s essentially the same experience.

Check them out, and bring a guest! Grover Beach Sourdough is the perfect way to show visitors what the Central Coast is all about.
