In light of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the Pismo Beach Rotary Club has recognized that many more people in SLO County do not have enough to feed their families. Direct impacts from COVID-19 have increased the overall volume of food distributed by the SLO Food Bank through its agency partners and through direct distribution to those in need.
When comparing January 2020 food distribution to April 2020 food distribution (projected), the SLO Food Bank increased food supply to agency partners by 252% and directly through SLO Food Bank managed distributions by 285%.
This pandemic will cause a long and sustained need for food in SLO County. It could be that nearly 50% of all SLO County residents may experience food insecurity within the next few months. SLO Food Bank, they turn $1 into $4 to feed the greatest number of people in need.
